This Hosa Stereo 1/4" Male to 2 Mono 1/4" Male Y-Cable is a "Send Return" cable (also known as a Insert Cable)

Conventionally wired: TIP = Send, RING = Return.

It can also be used as a "Y" cable to split stereo signal into Left and Right.
In this case, Right = RING and Left = TIP.

For guitar effects, it is more commonly used to convert a stereo loop jack into Send and Return plugs. Plug the stereo plug into the effects loop jack, and the SEND plug the effects input and the RETURN plug into the effect's output. This works perfectly on our ARDX20 delay.

You can also use it to convert a volume pedal with input and output jacks into an expression pedal. Plug the mono jacks into the volume pedal and the stereo jack into the expression jack to control. if it does not work right, reverse the plugs in the volume pedal. A low impedance volume pedal like the Ernie Ball LO model should be used for most expression controls.
